Description

What have been our successes this year?

We have had a very successful year during which we successfully developed our work on the International Primary Curriculum. This has enabled us to provide a richer thematic curriculum enjoyed by children and praised by parents. Standards in teaching and learning have continued to be good  across the school. Children across the school continue to achieve well in reading, writing and mathematics. This was recognised in our recent successful Ofsted Inspection.

In our recent survey of parents they praised the range of extra curricular activities and sports that are available for the children this continues to be a strength of the school.

We have continued our work in terms of enriching the curriculum with visitors to school, workshops and visits to places of interest including a residential visit for Year 4.

We have received praise from parents and the LA regarding the Ark and the nurture and support for both children and parents. PSHE and Values education are co-ordinated from the Ark ensuring a positive whole school ethos is carried out.

We have built on our positive reputation for providing good performances with super christmas plays from the younger children and our recent excellent production of  'Ye Ha'.

What activities and options are available to pupils?

We provide children with a wide range of activities and during the last year there has been a vast range of sporting activities on offer, these include; basketball, tennis, cricket, football, netball, swimming, street dance and gymnastics. As well as these children have had opportunities to join clubs for French, gardening, design technology, singing and drama. We also have a good range of peripatetic music provision currently providing tuition in violin, cello and keyboard.

As part of our enriched curriculum we have provided KS2 with the oportunity to develop thinking skills in philosophy, french as well as small group activities e.g. cookery, science, sewing, construction and craft.

We have also participated in exciting workshops including Science Workshops, WW11 Day, Roman Day, Victorian Day, Living Eggs, Theatre Visits, Freddie Fit and County Orchestra performances.

We place value on trips and children have visited Priory Country Park, Flitwick Woods, Library, Churches,  Museums, Duxford, Snibston, Woburn and the Butterfly Park and in Year 4 there is the residential Kingswood Visit.

Children also provide their own performances in class assemblies and Christmas and end of year productions.
Did you know that Templefield Lower School has a walking bus?

The route presently starts at Canterbury Road, continues through Beaumont Park, to the 'Bus Stop' in the school playground.

We’re always looking for new passengers from Foundation to year 4! Not sure if it’s for you? Well give us a try! These are the reasons we joined:

  1. Environmentally friendly - reducing road congestion
  2. Health and fitness
  3. Road safety awareness and pedestrian skills
  4. Teaching of independence
  5. Developing new friendships (for Mums and children!)

Walking Bus!!

As an added bonus you don’t need to walk with your child every day - you could have a morning off knowing that your child will be delivered to their classroom by a CRB checked volunteer!

And finally, new routes can always be added, so don’t let that deter you!

Speak to the school office if you would like to join the bus, or if you would like to be part of a new bus in your area!
